One of the most important factors to consider when writing your marketing message is to understand your target market. Despite what many experts say or the knowledge you get from others on how you would go about copywriting, it’s not all about getting the fancy words in so you can impress your readers. More than that; it is about knowing well your target market, so much so that you’ll be able to persuade them to buy your products and avail of your services.
Many would convince you that this is a daunting task indeed. But in spite of the challenges, it’s really every easy to do. All you have to do is to understand what makes your target clients click – what would make them want to buy? What factor would make them itching to purchase a product even if there’s no need for it?
The reality of it is that people in general buy and consume a product not because there is a NEED for it. Consumers buy something for a reason that is beyond the simple satisfaction of a need. People buy because they feel special about it. They buy because that particular item gives them pleasure.
All in all, people in general purchase for the simple reason that that specific item made life better for them.
With this point in mind, you can then apply it in the way you market your products and services. You can integrate this principle in your copywriting to make your marketing tools, be it as lengthy as a booklet printing or as snappy as custom envelopes, as effective communicators of your message. You need to take it to heart when you write your message that even if people do need things for their existence, it is ultimately the feeling of making our lives better that would eventually make the decision to buy or not.
To make this principle even easier to understand, let’s take for example somebody purchasing the newest model of mp3. That person isn’t buying the mp3 because he/she wants to impress his/her friends. He/she is buying it more for the convenience and the things it’ll do to improve his/her life. He/she might be thinking that it can upload as many as 20,000 songs, which would make it even enjoyable for him/her to spend time in the gym. This would mean a healthier lifestyle for that person. The bottom line is that the product is a means to make life better for that person.
When you understand the reason behind the purchasing activity of your target clients, you’ll be able to focus and customize your marketing message to fit the benefits that your target clients are looking for. By doing so, you are not only increasing the effectiveness of your marketing collaterals, even if its envelope printing; you’re also increasing your chances of having big profits with every product sold.
